Life at the 1800 was hard , the transportation was different than now they used to use omnibus drawn by horses. There wasn't any source of entertainment and electricity like what we have now iPads, mobile phones, tv etc.
The children used to have jobs and schools wasn't a familiar to them not all the of them went to it they barely know the alphabet. The main life in the 1800's was farming nearly everybody did it .
